Dog Years

Ah, the Joy of 8mm. A quirky Bristol-based competition that specialises in bringing us mini classics. They challenge their entrants to "tell a story in 3 minutes, shot sequentially and unedited, on a single 50' cartridge of Super 8 film stock" - and boy do they get some interesting results.

One of these is Dog Years. A quirky tale, told by the voice of the dog, about the relationship he has with his owner.

Every time I see a Joy of 8 short, I find myself won over by the script. This time, read in Laconic Yorkshire tones by Richad Haigh. The action is engaging but it's the words that are the thing. It's funny, clever and you'll want to tell your best friends, four-legged and otherwise, about it.
